Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Astronomer Radha Gobindra and Publication Ceremony


16 July, Wednesday is the 130th Birth Anniversary of Astronomer Radha Gobindra chandra. To celebrate this day Anushandhitshu Chokro has arranged a Discussion and a Publication Ceremony of Two Science Related Books: Biggaan Dekhi Chaardhar and Banglar jotirbid Radha Gobinda Chandra written by Farooque Chowdhury and Naimul Islam opu respectively. The program will be held at FREPD auditorium, Polashi circle at 4.30 pm, Wednesday.

Summer Solstice Program - 2008


June 21st is the Summer Solstice for the northern hemisphere. On this day, the sun rises at its northernmost position, attains the highest position in the sky, and sets at the northernmost position. This day also carries a special meaning for Bangladesh because of an imaginary geographic line that runs through the middle of the country.

Science Festival at Panchaghar

Anushandhitshu Chokro, Boda Branch arranged a day long Science Festival at Panchaghar on 21 June 2008. More than 450 students had participated in this program. Science Discussion, Science Exhibits, History of dinosaurs, Astrophotography photo exhibitions, Sing para meteorite photos, Science book fair, Quiz and Debit completion, Wall magazines were displayed in that occasion.

Anushandhitshu Observatory (N 23º 42.55', E 90º 29.48')

Dear all, this is great news that Mr. Naimul Islam Opu (general secretary of anushandhitshu astronomy division) completed the installation of Anushandhitsu Observatory on 13 February 2008. The main goal is to build an observatory that is completely suitable for CCD imaging and remote operation. The Telescope is an 8" f/10 Meade, Schmidt- Cassegrain. Now the telescope mounted on alt-azimuth in the observatory and scope runs automatically using Autostar Suite. The Obserservatory now installed in Demra, Dhaka, Bangladesh

A Chockro Branch news 2008:

1. Anushandhitshu Chokro, Kalipur Branch (18th branch), Chandpur has started its journey. They have got a room for conducting their regular activities.

2. Mirpur branch is going to observe 3rd Science Conference at 30th May, 2008 keeping in mind the slogan “Less progress but with disciplined way possible to make proper implementation”. Members of other branches also hope to attend the conference.

3. Anushandhitshu Chokro, Mugda branch is publishing science magazine “ Khobor-dar”(be careful) regularly. Recently it published its 2nd volume (2nd year). Einstein not as usual, organic fuel & food crisis, news of different branches and science news are published in this addition. 2nd year 3rd volume is going to publish very quickly.

4. 3rd science conference at Anushandhitshu Chokro Mirpur branch. “Less work, but with sincerity that heads towards proper implementation” keeping that slogan in mind Mirpur branch has observed their 3rd Science conference at 30th May 2008 at Mirpur Adorsha Biddyaniketon. 31 representatives of the branch have taken part in the conference. Moreover, members of Demra, Chandpur and Mugdapara branch also participated in the conference. The conference started with national anthem and lifting national flag. Life time member, Sirajul Islam and Central President Benuka Ferdousi gave their speeches on the occasion. Najmul Hasan, General Secretary of the branch read out the report of 2007. In the conference, the branch formed their committee (2007-2008) and selected Yasin Arafat Sad as president and Moeen Kader as General Secretery. After that a cultural program was held. At the end of the conference a rally went round the different streets of Mirpur 6. Moreover, Kalipur Branch has observed their anniversary by arranging a science related discussion on their club premises.

5. Book Reading Competition The prize giving ceremony among the contestants of “Book reading competition” who are SSC examinee has been held on 6 June 2008 as a part of Anushandhitshu Chokro Science Mass Literacy Program. The same program among the SSC examinee of this year has been launched at Mugdapara & Borguna Branch.

6. Anushandhitshu Biggyan Gronthomala (series of science related books) To spread science and to build up a science culture in the whole country is a prime motto of Anushandhitshu Chokro. By publishing science related books in an easy understandable language and reaching them to the mass people can be a way to achieve the motto. And so, Anushandhitshu Biggyan Gronthomala (series of science related books) has been launched. It’s a part of Science Mass Awareness Program. The books published and are going to be published are stated below:

Dear Member and Well-wisher of Anushandhitshu Chokro, This is well news for all of you that Anushandhitshu Chokro is going to arrange Dhaka Science Festival, 2007.

First Day long Dhaka Science Festival was successfully held at Shamsul Haq Khan School and College at Kuna Para, Dhaka. More than 1000 students had participated in this program. Science Exhibits, History of dinosaurs, Astrophotography photo exhibitions, Sing para meteorite photos, Aero model plane, Science book fair, Wall magazines were displayed in that occasion. Seven Schools of Demra Thana had participated in general Knowledge competition. Science speeches were delivered by Dr. A. A. ZiaUddin Ahmad and Dr. Dipen Bhattacharya. Mr. Azharul Haq, Sajjad Ali, Shakil Ezaz and Rafiqul Islam were also present in this festival.

Summer Solstice Program - 2007


Anushandhitshu Chokro is going to observe The Summer Solstice Day throughout Bangladesh for the first time. The program will observe at Bishwa Shahitta Kendra, Dhaka in 21 june 2007. It is to be noted that the day is the longest day in northern hemisphere. In this day the sun remains on the summer solstice line perpendicularly/vertically for a certain time and the summer solstice line passes on the middle of Bangladesh.

A Meteorite found in Bangladesh

In 31 January 2006. LMT 4.30 pm, a piece of meteorite has fallen at Shingpara village in Thakurgaon, northwest district of Bangladesh, 500 km away from the capital city Dhaka.Local people first identify it as a `fireball’ hit on the ground. It makes 3.5ft deep hole when it hit on earth and made an 11.5 dia c.m hole. Then local people informed nearest police station about its existence. Police collected it and reserved it in Police station. Hearing the news a five-member Astronomy group of Anushandhitshu Chokro Science Organization. Rush to the place to investigate the matter. After proper observation, the observation team confirmed it as a meteorite.

Anushandhitshu Chokro Astronomy Group already researches the Meteorite.

A seminar on Shingpara Meteorite

A seminar on Shingpara Meteorite was held in 24 February 2006, at IIT auditorium in Dhaka University.

Speakers:
   -Dr. A R Khan, eminent astronomer of Bangladesh
   -Mr. Collin Henshaw, astronomer and fellow of British astronomical society
   -Mr. Shahjahan Mridha Benu, chief coordinator of astronomy team, Anushandhitshu Chokro
   -Mr. Naimul Islam Opu, chief astro-photographer of Anushandhitshu Chokro astronomy team

Speakers proposed the following steps:
  1. It should be shifted from Thakurgaon to Bhashani Novotheatre in Dhaka.
  2. Research initiative should be taken with the help of national and international organization.
  3. We urge our government to preserve the meteorite in appropriate way.
  4. After scientific research, it should be open for all so that enthusiastic people can see this extra-terrestrial object.

Science Exhibition for Children

Mobile Science and Technology Museum (MSTM) have arranged a science exhibition for children at 26 December 2005 in South Mugda, Dhaka. More than 250 little children have observed the MSTM exhibits. They have raised many questions about science. 12 exhibits were displayed by MSTM in this exhibition.

Anushandhitshu Chokro's (mugda branch) have helped this program to organize it successfully.

MSTM is a public charitable Science Museum. Mobile Science and Technology Museum (MSTM) stresses hands-on experience of learning science, presents an opportunity to children and verify principles of science through experiments and to explore possibilities of applications in their own lives.

Dear Member and Well-wisher of Anushandhitshu Chokro, To commemorate our national victory day, Anushandhitshu Chokro Mugdapara branch has organized a science fair at the premise of KAH Kindergarten at mugda, Dhaka in 16 December. Mobile science and technology museum have assisted the fair. Principal of the kindergarten inaugurated the fair. A least 15 science exhibits have been displayed. People of all ages have enjoyed the fair. Children with their parents were looking around different projects. Colorful festoons and banners boasted the festive look. At least thee hundred people attend the program. Through this fair, Student of different schools had a rare opportunity to see and raise their questions about the science exhibits.

ACSO, Mirpur Branch
To observe Victory Day, Anushandhitshu Chokro Mirpur Branch also inaugurated a four daylong photo exhibition in Mirpur-6 on 16 December 2005. More than five hundreds people observed those rare photo collection of liberation war.

Monga, a famine like situation, prevails for a certain period almost every year in Bengali month of Ashwin and Kartik in the northern region of Bangladesh, because of absence of industrial base, said local business community. The rural youth finding no jobs in the region. Start migrating to big cities with hope of finding jobs.

World Year of Physics 2005

The World Year of Physics (WYP 2005) is a worldwide celebration of physics and its importance in our everyday lives. Physics not only plays an important role in the development of science and technology but also has a tremendous impact on our society. The year 2005 marks the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s “miraculous year” in which he published three important papers describing ideas that have since influenced all of modern physics. This year provides the opportunity to celebrate Einstein, his great ideas, and his influence on life in the 21st century.
Anushandhitsu chokro is also going to celebrate World Year of Physics. To celebrate this program we will be happy if you give us your proposal. We wish we will finalize our program within February.
